Church Leadership

On October 6, 2002, the Church marked a milestone when the congregation welcomed its first female pastor, Jean Staffa.  She and her husband, George, moved from North Park in Pittsburgh when they were seeking a quieter area.  They reside in the refurbished parsonage next door to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on National Road in Scenery Hill.  Both Churches comprise the Scenery Hill Lutheran Parish and share some services and activities throughout the year.

The congregation is part of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA, which is presided over by Bishop Donald McCoid.  The church leadership is governed by a council of ten people, nine of whom are elected to three year terms. The tenth member is the Church Treasurer.  Meetings are held monthly.

The congregation consists of a diversified group of blue collar and professional people working together to form a family of believers.  There are a number of active organizations and volunteer groups that seek and encourage participation.  They include: altar and nursery care, youth and women's groups, the church and men's choirs, community helpers and servers, lay readers, ushers, greeters, Sunday School teachers, and dartball team.
